Seventh Fire Food Sovereignty Alliance
Join us, Nov. 22nd, at 5:30pm for our next Food Sovereignty Alliance meeting. This group increases community voice, ownership, and action in the Sacred Roots traditional food program. This month we will begin planning our digital storytelling workshop that will take place this winter. Everyone is welcome at our meetings. Art & Healing: American Indian Textiles & Beads
Suzanne L. Cross, Ph.D., Associate Professor Emeritus, Michigan State University and member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, is a shawl maker and beadwork artist. She created a body of work to increase awareness and emphasize cardiac health for American Indian women by informing, supporting, and encouraging self-care and the value of changing life ways. This work will be on display in Ann Arbor beginning December 19th.
Indian Affairs Summer Internship
Lawrence S. Roberts, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary – Indian Affairs, announced today that applications to the Indian Affairs Student Leadership Summer Institute, a 10-week paid internship for post-secondary Native students now in its second year, are being accepted for 2017. The deadline for applications is November 30, 2016.
