Cancelled: Zumba Class
Unfortunately, we are cancelling the Zumba Class we had scheduled here at AIHFS for later today, Friday, the 15th. Sorry for any inconvenience and we hope to see you next time.

Dream Seekers Graduation
Tuesday, May 19, from 5-7pm, come join us for a BBQ and Drum Social to celebrate the Dream Seekers and all of the their achievements this year!

BALAC Survey
As part of AIHFS’s new Bemidji Area Leaders Acting for Change (BALAC) grant, we are completing a community needs assessment throughout the month of May. The data from that survey will inform our staff and community members about the strengths and needs of the community—which will then be used to develop our project for the next 4 years of the grant. Please see the BALAC press release for more information. If you are 18yrs old, live in AIHFS service area, and would like to take the survey  than please see the flier below. Survey participants will receive a $20 Target gift card.

Community Advisory Council Meeting
Thursday, May 21, from 5:30-7:30pm, will be our monthly meeting. This month Nickole Fox, will be presenting on the aforementioned Bemidji Area Leaders Acting for Change (BALAC) grant.

Community Sweat Lodge
Saturday, May 23, we will be having a community sweat lodge. The conductor will be Tony Davis of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa. The fire will start around 10am and the community will enter the lodge around noon.

Drum Social and Round Dance
We are hosting a Father’s Day Drum Social and Round Dance on Friday, May 29th from 6-8 pm here at the center. Everyone is invited to celebrate all of the wonderful dads, grandfathers, uncles, and male role models in our community. All are welcome, not just dads.

National Prevention Week Contest
In honor of National Prevention Week, May 17-23, Native youth ages 13-21 are asked to share how they choose to strengthen our nation: Native America. You can submit on We R Native’s website, or use #weRnative or #ChoosePrevention on social media for the chance to win gear and $75 (1st place), $50 (2nd place), or $25 (3rd place) cash prizes. Entries must be submitted by May 20, 2015

Money Management Education
Mondays, beginning June 1 at the North American Indian Association. Come learn how to make sound financial decisions, create financial goals, pay down debt and use credit wisely.

Medicine Walk
Saturday, June 6, come join us as Beth Moody leads us in a Medicine Walk in front of our facility. Learn the identification and uses of the traditional herbal medicines that surround us. Discover the traditional medicines growing in your own back yard!

American Indian Youth Summer Film Workshop
July 6-10, at Michigan State University there will be a film workshop for youth. Selected students will be provided room and board, create their own short film and interact with other Native Youth.
