Winter Solstice Celebration
Thursday, Dec. 21st, from 6pm to 8:30pm, we will have our annual winter solstice celebration at the University of Michigan-Dearborn Campus. University Center-Kochoff Hall, 4901 Evergreen rd., Dearborn, Michigan.
There will be a giveaway. Everyone is welcome to bring a new, homemade or gently used item to contribute! Donations are welcome to help cover event. Please bring your feast bundles! (plate, bowl, cup, utensils)
Tips for Solstice travel: The best entrance for our specific location on the U of M Dearborn Campus is the “Central Entrance.” From that entrance, follow left to get to Kochoff Hall at the University Center. Parking is available free of charge in sections E5-E7 right in front of the University Center Building.

AIHFS Holiday Closures
American Indian Health & Family Services will be closed for the following days over the upcoming holiday season.

Wellbriety, Women’s Society, Men’s Society
Wellbriety will continue to meet every Wednesday 5-6pm during the holiday season. Men’s and Women’s Societies are on hiatus till the new year. On January 4th, 2018, we plan to have a Wellbriety, Men’s & Women’s Societies’ New Year’s party! Please bring a dish to pass and wear a party hat. For more info, please call Shelly at 313-846-3718.

Community Advisory Council Meeting
Thursday, January 18th, 5:30pm-7:30pm, we will have a Community Advisory Council meeting about Residential Schools. Residential Schools, or as they were known in the United States, Boarding Schools, were established in the 19th and early 20th centuries to educate and assimilate indigenous children and youths to Euro-Christian standards. We will have guest speaker Ruth Davis who went to the Mohawk Institute, aka Mush hole, in Ontario, Canada. For more info John Marcus, ph. 313-846-3718.
New Parent Support Group
Becoming a parent is hard and it is common to feel stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, or down. Join us weekly as we discuss the joys and challenges of raising little ones as well as strategies to manage stress, cope with challenging emotions, and bond with your child. All expectant parents and caregivers of young children are welcome to attend any or all of this 7 week series. Childcare, snacks, and transportation (as available) are provided. Group will meet on Mondays, from 12-2pm, from January 29 through March 19 (no group February 19 due to Presidents’ Day).
