Weneniiganzejik Circle
Are you 18-24, and looking for a way to get involved with our Native community?  Join us for WeneNiiGanzejik – the Future Leaders project, Get to know you night! Share your story, connect with others, and learn together about our culture.  Thursday November 30th, from 7-9pm at American Indian Health and Family services.  The first in a series of events meant to cater to the specific needs of young adults, we will be provide a free meal, a talking circle, traditional medicines, and will be brainstorming on the ways in which we would like to use our collective strength to better ourselves and our community.  Contact Kat Arkansas if you would like to learn more about the Future Leaders Project or have any questions! Women’s Sweat Lodge
December 1st, starting at 5:30pm, we will have a Women’s N’doodooswan (sweat lodge teaching & ceremony) here at AIHFS. For more info 313-846-3718.

 

Native Film Festival
Rock Your Mocs is coming to Detroit! Please join us for the Detroit-area Rock Your Mocs kick-off event on December 10th – the IndigiStory Native Film Festival. Experience the stories of Native filmmakers as part of this collaborative effort to explore Native perspectives through the medium of film. Snacks will be served from 5:15 – 5:45 p.m. and the film screening will begin at 5:45 p.m. This event is FREE and open to the public. For more info, use the following the link:

Dream Seekers Family Night
Monday, December 11th, 5-7pm, Dream Seekers youth group members and their families are invited to join us for a fun night of traditional Anishinaabe teachings with Sue Wrobel, food, and fellowship.

Winter Solstice Celebration
Thursday, Dec. 21st, we will have our annual winter solstice celebration at the University of Michigan-Dearborn Campus. University Center-Kochoff Hall, 4901 Evergreen rd., Dearborn, Michigan.
There will be a giveaway. Everyone is welcome to bring a new, homemade or gently used item to contribute! Donations are welcome to help cover event. Please bring your feast bundles! (plate, bowl, cup, utensils)

Community Health Fair
Friday, Dec. 1st, 10am-2pm, the Corktown Health Center is having a health fair that is free and open to the public. They are at 1726 Howard st. Detroit. They will be doing diabetes testing, cholesterol screenings, blood pressure screenings and additional screenings.

 

Detroit Drainage Fees Workshop
Thursday, Dec. 7th, at 8850 Woodward, Detroit, CURES: Center for Urban Response to Environmental Stressors, is having a good opportunity to learn about Detroit drainage fees. For more info use this link to their facebook event.
