Women’s Lodge
September 14th , 5:30pm, AIHFS will be hosting a Women’s Sweat Lodge teaching & ceremony with Bea Jackson. Women and young ladies are welcome to join us for teachings and a lodge. Please come early to help with preparations. Bring a small dish to share if you can. Please bring tobacco, shakers and sweat lodge attire-long cotton skirts or robe, towel. No metal. Healthy Start Playgroup
Families with young children are invited to join us for our September playgroup on Friday, September 15 from 11am-1:30pm. This month our special guest Bea Jackson will join us to share the creation story! We will also be playing with our new water table, so parents may want to bring extra clothing for children in case they get wet. For more information please contact the Healthy Start office.
Community Advisory Council
Thursday, September 21st , from 5:30pm-7:30pm, will be the meeting of the Community Advisory Council. We will have Darius Watkins from our Sacred Bundle project presenting an update on their activities, including the new grief group that will be starting. For more info, John Marcus, 313-846-3718.
Fall Pregnancy and Childbirth Class Series begins October 2nd
These classes are FREE for expecting parents and their partners and support people! This is a 6-week series and classes run every Monday from 12-2pm, starting October 2nd. Topics include: staying healthy during pregnancy, preparing for birth, infant feeding, and parenting new babies. Light refreshments and childcare are provided each week. Steak Dinner Fundraiser
Thursday, September 28th, 5pm-10pm, at South Eastern Michigan Indians, Inc. there will be a steak dinner fundraiser by the American Indian Veterans of Michigan, Inc. Heroin and Opioid Town Hall Meeting
Wednesday, October 4th, 6pm-8pm, at the Schoolcraft College VisTaTech Center. There will be a community town hall meeting. This will be a panel discussion with treatment and law enforcement professionals.
