Seeking Young Adults Ages 15 – 26
The SAMHSA System of Care (SOC) grant at AIHFS has an immediate need for your participation in an AIHFS SOC Advisory Council.  We are having an informational drop-in session from 5PM to 7PM on Thursday March 9th in the Social Hall.  It shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes to get the information and you will receive a $20 Target gift card just for dropping by whether or not you want to participate in the future.  However, your future participation will not only provide you with knowledge and leadership skills but you will also receive a stipend for your efforts.  So, bring a friend and meet us in the social hall on Thursday March 9th from 5-7 pm.  Should you have any questions please call Bob Davis at (313) 846-6030.

 

An Evening with Joy Harjo (including transportation)
Friday, March 10th, 6pm – 7:30pm, Joy Harjo will be at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Joy Harjo is an internationally known poet, writer, and performer of the Mvskoke Creek nation. Thanks to a generous offer from University of Michigan there will be complimentary transportation from AIHFS to this event in Ann Arbor. We plan on leaving from AIHFS at 4:30pm. We will be returning around 9:45pm.

Understanding the Loss of Relationships
On March 11th, from 10am to 2pm, at AIHFS, Liz Akiwenzie will discuss healing from the loss of relationships due to death, break up, job loss or other forms of loss. There will also be a letting go ceremony. For more info call Keith Dayson, 313-846-3718.

September 21st – 24th, in Niagara Falls, New York, this year’s theme is Changing Patterns of Cancer in Native Communities: Strength Through Tradition and Science.
