Understanding the Loss of Relationships
On March 11^th, from 10am to 2pm, Liz Akiwenzie will discuss healing from the loss of relationships due to death, break up, job loss or other forms of loss. There will also be a letting go ceremony. For more info call Keith Dayson, 313-846-3718.

Spartan MD Student Spotlight

Workshop for Parents
Beginning March 6^th, join Michigan State University extension’s new online series for parents. These online trainings are available at no cost to Michigan residents with children ages 0-3.

 

An Evening with Joy Harjo (including transportation)
Friday, March 10th, 6pm – 7:30pm, Joy Harjo will be at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Joy Harjo is an internationally known poet, writer, and performer of the Mvskoke Creek nation. Thanks to a generous offer from University of Michigan there will be complimentary transportation from AIHFS to this event in Ann Arbor. We plan on leaving from AIHFS at 4:30pm. We will be returning around 9:45pm.

American Indian Festival
Saturday, April 29^th, American Indian Communities Leadership Council will be presenting American Indian Festival in Algonac Mi. This is open to the public and there will be powwow dancing, American Indian Crafts, and a food sale.

Seeking Session Proposals
The 19th annual Allied Media Conference, to be held June 15-18, 2017 in Detroit, will be a space to explore new forms of organizing, infused with creativity and deep listening, and synergy between diverse tactics. They are now seeking proposals for sessions. For more info, follow this link:

MHSPEA
The Michigan Health Sciences Pre-College Exposure Academy (MHSPEA) is an entry-level residential academic enrichment program, June 18^th through July 1^st,  that brings together highly motivated rising 10th and 11th grade high school students to gain exposure to health professions and what it takes to be successful in them. GDYT
Grow Detroit’s Young Talent (GDYT) is a citywide summer jobs program that trains and employs young adults between the ages of 14 and 24 for 6 weeks in July and August. Youth participants must be permanent residents of the City of Detroit and be eligible to work in the United States. There is a broad range of jobs available to the participants.
