Healthy Start Playgroup
Families with young children are invited to join us for our October playgroup on Friday, October 28, from 11am-1:30pm. We will be doing some fun fall and Halloween-themed activities, and eating spooky snacks! For more information please contact the Healthy Start office, 313-846-6030.
Fall Back Friday
Friday, October 28, we will have a Halloween celebration for 18 to 24 year olds with a DJ and dancing! There will also be a craft, lots of food and Halloween/fall themed snacks! There will be a movie theater in the basement playing Throwback Halloween Movies. We welcome and encourage costumes/Halloween attire. Ghost Supper
Saturday, October 29, 4pm-8pm, we will be having a community gathering to share memories, songs, and honor those that have walked ahead. Some food will be provided, but please feel free to bring a favorite dish to share for the feast. For more info, please contact Rosebud or Keith at 313-846-6030.
AIHFS Diabetes Classes
Beginning November 3rd you can learn to manage your diabetes by caring for the whole person. This is a 12 week class held here at AIHFS that will cover the ABC’s of Diabetes, blood sugar monitoring, healthy recipe demos and more. Documentary: The Listeners
November 17, please join The Sacred Bundle Youth Suicide Prevention Project and Common Ground Crisis Center for an exclusive screening at Cinema Detroit of a new documentary, The Listeners. Follow the paths, training, and experiences of people who volunteer to answer calls to suicide hotlines.

Joe Reilly on Local 4
Joe Reilly, who works with our Dream Seekers youth program here at AIHFS, had an opportunity to appear on Music Monday at Local 4, WDIV. Holiday Meal Wish List
Holidays are a time of family, food and generosity. Some of the families that use our services could use help with their holiday meal. To help them out we have created a holiday meal wish list. We are looking for donations of canned foods and other non-perishable items, like stove-top stuffing, mashed potato flakes, and French’s fried onions.
