Fundraiser Dinner
Today, Wednesday, August 10th, from 6-8pm, AIHFS is hosting a fundraising dinner to help send Shiloh and Rosebud to the Slow Food Global conference in Turin, Italy. The suggested donation for each dinner is $10.

Women’s Circle Dinner
August 17th, 5-7pm, everyone is welcome to a survey dinner we are having for our Women’s circle group. For more info contact Shelly Nimocks-Hinshaw at 313-846-6030.

Community Advisory Council
Thursday, August 18th, 5:30-7:30pm, is our monthly meeting where different departments or topics from the agency are presented to community members for feedback. Everyone is welcome. For more info call me, John Marcus, at  ph 313-846-6030 x1406

 

Northern Indigenous Games
Saturday, August 20, AIHFS will be hosting Indigenous games for youth ages 8-17, parents and family are welcome. Registration is limited to the first 30 youth. To register or for questions, contact Nicolette at 313-846-6030 or nmcgahey@aihfs.org

AIHFS Pow Wow and Health Fair
Saturday, August 27, 12pm to 5pm, we will have our annual pow wow and health fair! The event will be open to the public beginning at 11am, which is when we will also have a Wellness Walk. Our host drum will be Southern Straight and we are open to all dancers. We will have Native American arts and crafts, as well as Native food available for purchase. This is a free event and we are recommending you bring your lawn chairs so you’ll be able to watch all the dancing in comfort. This year’s pow wow will be at Romanowski Park which is right around the corner from our agency. For general information, email Thurman Bear at tbear@aihfs.org. Lights of Hope
The Lights of Hope event will take place on Tuesday, September 13th, during the annual American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network Advocacy Leadership Summit and Lobby Day. At dusk bags will be lit and line the U.S. Capitol Reflecting Pool while survivors, caregivers and lawmakers reflect and give remarks.
