Community Advisory Council
Thursday, June 16, we will be having our monthly meeting from 5:30-7:30pm. This month we will be having a Talking Circle with the focus being the recent events in Orlando, Florida. Talking Circles have been used as part of the healing process by many tribal nations. It is with this intent of healing that we ask everyone to come participate. Our mental health professionals will be available during this time as well. For more info call me, John Marcus, at 313-846-6030.
Community Sweat Lodge
Saturday, June 18th, we will be having a community sweat lodge here at AIHFS. The conductor will be Tony Davis of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa. Women should bring a long comfortable skirt, modest comfortable top (such as a t-shirt) and a towel. Men should bring shorts and a towel. The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians have updated their language website. They have added some new lessons and stories.
Community Cultural Teaching & Feast
Saturday, June 25, from 11am-3pm there will cultural teachings and a feast at Ezhibiigaadek Asin (the Sanilac Petroglyphs site near Cass City, Mi.). Participants include Joseph Sowmick, Stephanie Stone and Dr. Dean Anderson.
