Community Sweat Lodge
Saturday, November 14, we will be having a community sweat lodge. The conductor will be Tony Davis of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa. Free Movie Night
November 16, join us at the MSU center at 3408 Woodward in Detroit for a viewing of 2 films featuring Native American themes. One is called Unnatural Causes and the other is Eriel Deranger – Reclaiming our Indigeneity and our place in modern society.
Wednesday, November 18, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Social Hall. The Systems of Care Grant here at AIHFS will be hosting a traditional Ghost Supper to celebrate the time we’ve had with those we know and love that have walked on. There will be an opening prayer followed by a teaching about Ghost Suppers by Frank Ettawageshik, song and a drum with a sacred fire. A main course will be provided and you can feel free to bring a sampling of your loved one’s favorite dish to pass if you like. The invitation is open to all. Miigwetch.
Community Advisory Council
Thursday, November 19th, 5:30-7:30pm, we will have Brian Smith from the Center for Urban Responses to Environmental Stressors, sharing their video Good Food = Good Health and having dialogue about community health. Everyone is welcome. For more info, John Marcus, 313-846-6030.
