Community Advisory Council

Thursday, July 16, from 5:30-7:30pm we will be holding our monthly meeting. AIHFS is currently searching for a new facility and we want your input! A new space will provide many opportunities and we would like for you to be a part of the discussion. Everyone is welcome.

Unable to attend the meeting?
As an organization, AIHFS is looking to move to a new location. We have been growing for many years and our current space can no longer provide enough space for AIHFS events and services. We want your input about the move! Please use the link below to take a survey. This survey will provide us with insight into the needs of our clients and the greater community. Thank you!
Participants are entered into a raffle! Four winners will receive $25 gift cards and one will receive the grand prize of a Pendleton blanket!

DMC Grant Press Release
American Indian Health and Family Services (AIHFS) received a grant of $50,650 from The DMC Foundation. The purpose of the grant is to expand the Healing Our Bodies, Healing Ourselves cooking classes and encourage healthier diets and lifestyles.

Talking Circle and Sweat Lodge
Friday, July 24, from 2-4pm we will have a Talking Circle followed up directly with a fire and sweat lodge preparations. We plan on entering the Lodge around 6pm. Tony Davis, LTBB of Odawa Indians, will be conducting both.

NAIA Gardening Class
Create an amazing container garden in one day! Register for this free class with MSU’s Alyce Hartman, a master gardener and all around gardening rock star! She has taught food and garden related courses for years, and even ran her own food-related nonprofit in California for 7 years. She now lives in Detroit and wants to teach us how to get the most out of an easy urban gardening method. Supplies are included with this FREE class. Class space is for registrants only. NAIA Summer Art Classes
Wednesdays in July at 1pm at the North American Indian Association(NAIA) there will be celebrations of art. Classes include: pottery, leatherwork, stamping, and more! To register contact NAIA at 313-535-2966
