Sweat Lodges
March 7, Women’s Sweat lodge with Bea Jackson. Please note: we have changed the starting time for this lodge. The new times are, fire & prep at 1pm and going into the lodge around 4pm.
March 20, Community Lodge with Tony Davis.
March 21, we will be having a Youth Lodge. Young adults aged, 18-24, are also encouraged to attend. The sweat lodge conductor will be Tony Davis, LTBB of Odawa Indians.
REACH Focus Groups
REACH, Journey to wellness, initiative is looking for Native American’s between the ages of 25 to 45 for a focus group concentrating on a public health campaign. The focus group will be held Thursday March 12, 2015 from 12-2pm. Please see flyer for more details. If chosen for the focus group you will receive $75.00 for your time. Healthy Eating Presentation
Advantage Health Centers will be hosting a Healthy Eating on a Budget presentation on March 10th and 24th at their Thea Bowman Clinic. Learn to make healthy choices without breaking the bank! Everyone is welcome and there will be free giveaways.

Native Focus Group Participants Needed
The Detroit Institute of Arts is looking for Native people to participate in a focus group about a new exhibit! They are currently developing a new exhibition scheduled to open early next year. On Saturday, March 14th, they will hold discussion groups as part of the process of developing the exhibition. For more info see flier.
Choices: Artists & Vehicle Injury Prevention
March 19, at Walpole Island, find out what 4 amazing artists have in common with vehicle injury & accidents. The artists are Frank Waln, the Sampson Brothers and Tanaya Winder. For more info see flier.
CMU Pow Wow
March 21 + 22, will be the weekend for the 26th annual Celebrating Life Pow wow. There will be drum and dance contests and will feature more than 20 arts and craft vendors. For more info see flier.
March is National Nutrition Month
March 27, we will be having an event as part of March being National Nutrition Month. Free healthy snacks, free fitness and cooking demos, and free BP, BMI and weight check. For more info see flier.
Childbirth classes
Healthy Start’s spring Childbirth Class series starts next month at AIHFS!
Classes are FREE and are held on Wednesday evenings, 5:30-7:30pm, starting April 8 and running through May 13. Any pregnant women and partners/support people are welcome to register by contacting Healthy Start at 313-846-6030 ext. 1300.

U of M Dance for Mother Earth Powwow
April 4th and 5th will be the 43rd annual celebration of Native American culture. The Dance for Mother Earth Powwow is in need of volunteers. If anyone is interested in volunteering contact Michon Johnson at michonj@umich.edu.
